I think the reason that it appeared to us in May 2016 that it was traveling west to east is the heat was propagating in that direction. Upstream and lighting things up as it did. Making the invisible, visible. Not knowing what I'm talking about or thinking :), I'll go with compression as the source of the added heat. That is the main stream. Rocky."
